Real-time data exchange: Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to install meters for water control

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have reached an agreement to install specialized meters to accurately measure the amount of water consumed by each country. The initiative envisages the installation of measuring devices on the territory of both states to ensure transparency and equity in the distribution of water resources.

According to the agreements, Kazakhstan will be responsible for installing meters on Uzbek territory, while Uzbekistan will implement similar measures on Kazakh territory. In addition, real-time exchange of information on water consumption is envisioned, allowing both sides to have access to each other's up-to-date data.

Currently, specialists from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are working to identify optimal locations for meter installation. Negotiations are also underway on cooperation with international organizations to attract support for the project.

The Minister of Water Resources of Kazakhstan, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, expressed hope that the introduction of meters will improve control over the use of water resources and facilitate monitoring of water consumption in both countries. He also noted that already in April it is planned to start a dialogue on the implementation of similar initiatives with other neighboring countries, emphasizing the desire to expand cooperation in this area at the regional level.
