Ministry of Agriculture Reviews Livestock Sector Performance for the First Half of 2026
The sector’s gross output exceeded KZT 2.058 trillion in the first six months of the year, with growth recorded in meat, milk, and egg production
The results of the livestock industry's performance for the first half of 2026 were discussed at a meeting chaired by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov.
Livestock production remains a priority area of the country's agro-industrial complex.
As the Minister of Agriculture noted, a Comprehensive Plan aimed at further developing the industry has been prepared at the President's direction. He stated that state support measures should be provided to agricultural producers in a timely manner, facilitating production growth and improving efficiency.
"In this regard, we need to discuss issues that require prompt resolution," Aidarbek Saparov emphasized.
Baghlan Aimurzayev, Director of the Livestock Department, reported that gross livestock production exceeded 2.058 trillion tenge for the period January–June 2026. The physical volume index was 104.4%.
Growth was recorded in all key areas. Meat production of all types increased by 5.5%, milk by 2.4%, and eggs by 7.9%. Livestock numbers also continue to increase.
As part of the Comprehensive Plan, the "Igilik," "Bereke," and "Zhailau" preferential loan programs have been launched. These programs provide funding for the acquisition of breeding stock and the development of pasture-based livestock farming at a rate of 6% per annum, as well as for working capital replenishment at 5% per annum.
Furthermore, work continues to create and develop specialized feedlots.
These measures are already showing an impact on production indicators. In agricultural enterprises, meat production of all types increased by 7.9%.
Special attention was paid to feed supply at the meeting. According to regional data, over 16 million tons of feed have been harvested, including 13.8 million tons of hay. Summing up the meeting, Aidarbek Saparov instructed that the current pace of development in the livestock industry be maintained.
"The main objective is to ensure sustainable growth in livestock production. This must be achieved through the consistent implementation of the Comprehensive Livestock Development Plan, a real increase in production volumes, the efficient operation of enterprises, and the maximum utilization of existing potential," the minister concluded.
